Jack Russell Terrier - Small - Adult - Female - Dog - Maize

Maize is a stubborn ball-addicted little pud smoothie. She has a truly delightful personality - except when she is awoken from deep sleep. Then she turns into Cujette and she has bitten her previous owner several times. We have worked with treat reinforcement etc and not really made any headway, butMaize can simply be wrapped in a blanket and removed from the place she is sleeping quite safely. Once Maize is awake, she is a terrific dog again. Maize was born deaf, which makes this a particularly tricky behavioural problem to work with. Maize is a wonderful off leash hiking companion in the woods and at the beach. She really pays attention to where her people are and sticks right with you. She is a total little ball freak and will chase a ball until she drops. She is good in the car, great with strangers, and absolutely terrific with all other dogs - big & small. She has no space or toy or food aggression issues at all with other dogs. Maize will have to go to a home willing to work around her sleep issue - which means no young children (just in case) and NO sleeping in her owner's bed. Maize is best when left to a dog bed with another dog companion - she has no Cujette issues with other dogs - just people. Absolutely NO crates. Maize does NOT want to be a lap dog. She is affectionate, but on her own terms. She does NOT like being swooped down on & grabbed. She does not react negatively to this, but her body becomes very stiff and you can see that she hates it. Rating: Extremely experienced dedicated dog-smart adopter. Maize is located in Clatskanie, Oregon. Her adoption fee will be waived to the right adopter. Her vaccinations are current.
